Mentorship Through the Eyes of a Mentee – Mia Primec

04/03/2026

As part of the IMPACT project, young athletes were given the opportunity to grow not only as players but also as individuals through a structured mentorship program. One of the participants, Mia Primec, shares her personal experience and what mentorship meant to her.

Can you introduce yourself in one sentence?

My name is Mia Primec, I’m 17 years old, and I’ve been training softball for 6 years.

What did you expect from the IMPACT mentorship at the beginning?

I expected support and better communication with someone older and more experienced. I didn’t really know what to expect, but I wanted to be open with someone and talk about everything — about softball and about life — and get advice that could help me grow.

How would you describe your relationship with your mentor?

My relationship with my mentor has always been very good, and now I’m even happier because we became closer through this project.

Did mentorship help you — and in what way?

It helped me build more self-confidence and guided me in understanding certain things better, both in sport and in everyday life.

Is there a moment or advice that stayed with you?

Yes — to always just be myself.

Do you feel you changed during the project? How?

Yes, I have more confidence in myself and in others, and I feel better overall.

Would you recommend mentorship to other young athletes? Why?

Of course. Having a mentor is like having an older sister or brother who gives you advice for both sport and life.

One word to describe your IMPACT experience?

Wonderful.
