As part of the IMPACT project, the team developed the Mentoring Manual, a comprehensive guide designed to support mentors and coaches in effectively guiding young female athletes through the mentoring process.
The manual contains 20 pages, printed in 20 copies, and is available in English and national partner languages. It provides essential information about mentoring principles, expectations for mentors, and practical strategies for overcoming common challenges.
It covers:
-
The key stages of the mentoring process (initiation, goal setting, development, feedback, and closure),
-
Clear mentor expectations – commitment, active listening, confidentiality, and positive role modeling,
-
Effective mentoring strategies, including the use of SMART goal-setting, feedback methods, and relationship building,
-
Solutions to common challenges such as skill level differences, motivation, or emotional issues,
-
Guides and workshops focusing on leadership and personal growth.
The Mentoring Manual serves as a practical tool to help mentors create a supportive and empowering environment where young athletes can thrive both on and off the field.
