IMPACT Weekend – Three-Day Mentor Workshop

09/12/2025

From November 21 to 23, we organized a three-day workshop for mentors participating in the IMPACT project. The goal of the weekend was to provide mentors with a deeper understanding of themselves, of one another, and of the values that shape our community. Through a series of carefully designed activities, the group explored what mentorship truly means, clarified how they collectively see the future of the club, and further strengthened the sense of connection that binds them together.

A Blend of Fun, Emotions, and Personal Growth

The weekend began with relaxed and fun activities aimed at breaking the ice, encouraging laughter, and creating a safe and trusting atmosphere within the group. As the program progressed, the workshops gradually became more emotionally engaging. Mentors and coaches were encouraged to reflect on their own strengths, vulnerabilities, and past experiences.

For many, this was a rare opportunity to consciously acknowledge emotions that often remain unspoken, yet play a crucial role in working with young athletes. This level of self-awareness was recognized as a powerful tool in their mentoring approach.

A Winter Setting That Brought Everyone Even Closer

The location itself added a special dimension to the experience. The group spent the weekend in the Varaždin area, surrounded by fresh snow that created a peaceful winter atmosphere. Outside of the structured program, mentors prepared meals together, shared long conversations, and enjoyed relaxed moments in the fresh air.

These informal moments proved to be just as important as the workshops themselves, allowing everyone to connect on a deeper, more personal level.

Stronger Mentors – A Stronger Club

The IMPACT Weekend gave mentors the opportunity to build stronger relationships not only with one another, but also with themselves. Many left with new insights into how to approach their mentees, with a clearer sense of purpose and renewed motivation for the mentoring journey ahead.

This type of investment in mentor development once again confirms how essential strong mentorship is for the long-term growth of our athletes and the club as a whole.
