It has been more than one month since I have arrived in Croatia. I cannot believe how fast time has flown by. I feel like I have only been here for two days. During my time here, I have started to explore my surroundings a little more, and discover the beauty of my neighborhood and the city of Zagreb. As far as Covid goes, the measures here are more relaxed than in Slovakia which gives me more opportunities to do many things. On the 1st of March, they released measures even more, which included the opening of terrasses at coffee shops an d restaurants. For the locals sitting in the sun, drinking coffee, talking with friends, and doing nothing is a big deal. So, if a Croatian were to ask you to go to coffee, reserve at least two hours for that. 😊
One of the places I like in Zagreb is Jarun. Jarun is a neighborhood in the southwestern part of Zagreb. It was named after Lake Jarun, formed by a Sava River, now located on the southern edge of the neighborhood. Maximal length of Lake Jarun is 2,25km. People have many opportunities around the lake to have fun and be with friends. You can find a lot of coffee bars, basketball courts, volleyball courts, football fields, areas for table tennis, outside gyms, skate parks and you can even find people riding horses. Around the lake, there are separate roads for cars, bicycles, roller bladders and pedestrians. Lake Jarun is full of fun possibilities! Sadly, with all of the activities there is often a lot of trash left behind, so I hope that changes in the near future.
Thanks to warmer weather we finally started to train outside, and everyone is very excited about it. It is nice to be on the field again. I enjoy every moment there with my teammates and with the children. Another positive addition to my life has been the ability to use a bike for transportation, I am learning how to navigate riding one in the busy traffic of the city.
In the next few weeks softball season will hopefully start and I cannot wait!
